This is a difficult book for me to review because I’m not entirely sure what I thought or how I felt about it. I found it difficult to get through, but there were also times that I couldn’t put it down.
A Small Dark Quiet tells the story of Arthur, a Jewish boy adopted from Germany by Sylvie and Gerald, a young married couple in England.
In the name of research (ahem..) I decided to treat myself to some books that I’ve been dying to read! I already cannot wait for the delivery to arrive and to sniff that new book smell. Have any of you read any of these books? What did you think?
Jodi Picoult’s ‘Leaving Time’ introduces us to Jenna Metcalf, a 13 year old girl who lives with her grandmother in New England. Her life is dedicated to finding out what happened to her mother, Alice, in a tragic accident ten years before at the elephant sanctuary Jenna used to live at with her parents, and the sanctuary workers, Gideon, his wife Grace, and Grace’s mother Nevvie. Alice was taken to hospital the night of the accident, and by the next morning, she was missing, leaving her young daughter and husband behind.
